Decompression device shows promise as non-surgical treatment: Spinal Manipulation Therapy (MT) shows effectiveness for disc treatment in Korean study

Researchers at Seoul National Univeristy Bundang Hospital, South Korea, have reported data from a study where Spine MT, a nonsurgical spinal decompression treatment device, was proven to be effective for disc treatment.  Named ‘Effect of Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression on Intensity of Pain and Herniated Disc Volume in Subacute Lumbar Herniated Disc’, the study was carried out by the hospital’s Professor Pyong-bok Lee and his team.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings showed that nonsurgical spinal disc decompression treatment could lower the size of the protruding disk in lumbar disc escape patients.  The study also demonstrated the efficacy of the device as a conservative treatment method for several spinal disc disease patients, allowing medical staff to access various treatment options for the initial ailment.

Several spinal decompression therapy devices have previously been used to treat disc patients; however, no studies validated their effectiveness in aiding medical staff and patients to trust the therapy.

Spine MT is the first device to be clinically proven for effectiveness for disc treatment across the globe.  Additionally, it was projected as a conservative treatment option for spinal disc disease patients.

Spine MT CEO In-kyu Kim said, “the characteristics of our products, developed with new domestic medical technology, are that it is possible to access treatment for each patient’s disease and it is designed to make it easy to manage treatment data for each patient.  In order to minimize the burden of treatment costs on patients, the legal basis has been established so that Korean medical expenses can be claimed.”

With the latest development, Kim intends to offer the Spine MT K1 and Spine MT Core spinal decompression treatment devices as a treatment method for spinal disc patients and medical staff globally.
